The Little Travel Essentials We Can’t Do Without

Of all the drugstores in Munich, Rossmann is my absolute favourite. I love browsing their products, seeing what’s new and checking the weekly discounts in their app. There’s something genuinely relaxing about wandering around the store, discovering new things and stocking up on our favourites.
Going to Rossmann has become part of our pre-trip routine. We have two stores within walking distance, so it’s easy to go before a holiday.
A little note: This post is not sponsored by Rossmann or any of the brands mentioned. We bought these products ourselves, use them regularly and genuinely enjoy them. Nobody paid us to recommend them. Although Rossmann, if you’re reading this, we go shopping there every week. Just saying!😄
Prices checked in October 2026. Prices and availability may vary between Rossmann stores and online.
1. Kneipp Lebensfreude Mini Shower Gel — €0.99
We buy the same one every time. The Litsea Cubeba and lemon scent is so fresh and uplifting, and we both love using it. At 50 ml, it’s also exactly the kind of size we want in our toiletry bag.
2. Facelle Intim-Pflegetücher Reisegröße — €0.50
No shame here talking about hygiene! These little packs are practical for feminine hygiene on the go and take up hardly any room. The travel pack contains 15 wipes, and I like having them in my bag when we travel.
3. Neutrogena Mini Hand Cream — €0.99
This is one of those tiny products that earns its place in my handbag. It absorbs quickly, makes our hands feel really soft and — most importantly for me — doesn’t leave that annoying sticky feeling afterwards.
Small, simple and very useful while travelling.
4. Wet Brush Go Green Mini Detangler — €8.99
I have fine hair that is prone to breakage, and this little brush works really well for me. It’s compact enough for travelling but still does the job properly when I’m getting ready in the hotel room.
5. Alouette Feuchte Toilettentücher Sensitiv Kids — €0.99
Yes, they say Kids on the packet. No, we don’t care. 😄
We find them gentle and very practical for travelling. They’re fragrance-free, made with 99% water and have a very short ingredient list. The little 20-piece pack is exactly the right size to throw into a travel bag.
6. NIVEA Derma Control Clinical Ultra Dry Touch Stick — €4.49
This one is very much my pick.
Travelling can make me stressed, and when I’m stressed, I sweat more. There, I said it. But everybody sweats!
I know many people prefer aluminium-free or more natural deodorants. We’ve tried those too, but they simply don’t work well enough for either of us. This formula does contain aluminium salts, and for me personally, performance matters when I know I have a long travel day ahead.
7. The Beauty Mask Company Koffein Reload Eye Patches — €0.99
Holy grail. LOVE THEM.
These have become one of my little travel beauty rituals. I keep them in the hotel minibar or fridge and put them on in the morning while I start doing my brows and eye makeup.
The cooling feeling is wonderful, and I personally notice a little less puffiness afterwards while my under-eye area feels nicely hydrated. I still follow with my usual eye cream.
8. Mixa Balm Cica+ — €5.99
Another holy grail for us.
My hands can get extremely dry and cracked, especially in winter, and this balm has worked wonderfully for me when my skin needs extra care. I also love using it on dry, cracked heels.
The little 50 ml tube makes it particularly handy for travelling.
9. FUSSWOHL Blasenpflaster Extreme — €3.49
These are an absolute travel must for us.
If I know we’re going to spend the whole day walking — especially when it’s hot — I like to protect the areas where I know my shoes tend to rub. My feet can swell in the heat, and otherwise I’m much more likely to end up with blisters.
One important note: Rossmann describes these particular Extreme plasters as being designed for existing blisters, so using them preventively is simply what works for me personally.
10. enerBiO Linsen Knusper Ecken — €1.29
We never really buy regular potato chips. We genuinely prefer snacks like these.
They taste good, they’re crunchy and they’re not fried. We try to make healthier choices where we can, and these are simply the kind of snack we reach for instead.
11. GENUSS PLUS Brownie Balls — €0.99
We’ve tried the other versions too, but the Brownie Balls win for us.
The protein ones have a strange aftertaste that neither of us likes, and the peanut version is okay — but these are easily our favourite.
You get four little balls in a small pack, so they’re perfect for throwing into my handbag before heading to the airport or spending the day sightseeing. They’re made mainly from dates, hazelnuts and cocoa and have no added sugar.
And, most importantly, we both think they’re delicious.
12. Hidrofugal MEN Frisch & Stark Anti-Transpirant — €3.99
This one is Bernhard’s favourite.
For him, it’s mostly about performance. He wants something reliable for a long travel day, and Hidrofugal works really well for him. We’ve generally had very good experiences with the brand too and haven’t found the products we use irritating on our skin.
Simple recommendation, but a genuine one: Bernhard keeps buying it because it works for him.
13. Jean & Len Mini Fragrances — Cardamom & Tonka as well as Bergamot & Cedarwood
We’ve gone through more Jean & Len bottles than we can count.
We both wear their fragrances and don’t really divide them into “his” and “hers.” But for this list, we’re featuring Cardamom & Tonka and Bergamot & Cedarwood — the two we filmed before our trip.
Cardamom & Tonka is warmer and softer, while Bergamot & Cedarwood has that fresh, woody feel. We think both smell far more expensive than you’d expect, and the little 10 ml bottles are brilliant for travelling.
We’ve tried several other Jean & Len fragrances too, so this definitely isn’t a one-bottle recommendation.
The Ones That Keep Making It Into Our Suitcase
They’re just little things we’ve bought again and again because they work for us. Some make travelling easier, some make us feel a little more comfortable, and some are simply nice to have when we’re away from home.
And knowing us, this list will probably grow. A quick trip to Rossmann before a holiday has become part of the fun of getting ready.
What’s the one little product that always makes it into your suitcase?
